Keep Your Head Up High

I found that the examples of figurative language in this poem Mother to Son by "Langston Hughes" was mainly metaphors, I couldn’t find any other figurative languages in the poem. I believe that the meaning and purpose of this poem was to tell people that even if you are feeling down keep your head up and don’t be sad. The mood of the poem is from starting off sad then towards the end it showed that happiness was on the way.
